<enclosure url="
During the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, educators receive free admission to the Walker galleries by participating in an activity. Details below:
“What artworks connect to themes of giving thanks and fellowship?” Using ArtsConnectEd’s tools to respond to this question, we published an Art Collector Set, “Asking Art: Giving Thanks.” And now to thank you, educators in the ArtsConnectEd community, we invite you to visit the Walker over the Thanksgiving weekend and join us in “asking art.” Here's how:
1. Use ArtsConnectEd’s Art Finder to ask: “What artwork resonates with giving thanks, fellowship, or other Thanksgiving themes?” Print your selection using its “Printable View.”
2. On your printout, write a brief statement expressing your thoughts. Include your name and e-mail address. (Your contact information will not be shared.)
3. Visit the Walker (November 25–27) to exchange your paper for one free adult admission.
Please contact info@artsconnected.org with questions or for more information.
We’ll continue to “ask art” more questions about the lives we live, so look for more Asking Art Sets as we move through the academic year.

Art Collector Sets Examine the How and Why of Collecting Art

<enclosure url="
Ever think about using Art Collector to reflect on the act of collecting? Here are a few Sets that take the notion of collecting as their theme.
THE HOW-TO OF COLLECTING: Get your students zipping through Art Collector by checking out How to Build Your Own Art Collector Set. This resource provides step-by-step instructions on how to create a Set. Designed to guide your navigation through Art Collector's features, this Set pairs screenshots with descriptive annotations to make collecting easy.
THE WHY OF COLLECTING: A new Set titled Be A Curator prompts students to look closely at works of art and consider the role of a curator. Whether we're thinking of a museum's entire collection (in this case, the Walker's), or focusing on an exhibition (in this case, 50/50) as a "collection within a collection," this Set examines decision-making behind the act of collecting.

Congratulations to the winner of the third ArtsConnectEd iPad Challenge! Jenna Tanttila, an educator with the Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City School District, demonstrated how an Art Collector Set can be a self-contained, plug-and-play success for the substitute teacher and students. Her Set, "Faces and Places: Art Interpretation," fills a class period by challenging students to observe, journal, sketch, and think imaginatively.
