For the Minneapolis Institue of Arts, the opportunity to witness an ancient and sacred aspect of Tibetan life came in the winter of 1991-92 when a group of monks from the Gyuto Tantric University in northern India arrived in the United States. The monks created the Yamantake Mandala from sand. The mandala was preserved and still hangs in the MIA's galleries. This video piece documents the process and ceremony surrounding a fascinating work of art.
