Heal & Sons, Ltd. became a leader in the production of contemporary fabric design in 1960s Britain under the direction of Tom Worthington. He commissioned freelance artists and art school graduates to produce designs that reflected the rapidly evolving art scene of the time, including Pop and Op art, flower power and super-realism.Nimbus combines the influences of Op art's play on visual perception with the photorealism that became fashionable in the early seventies. The juxtaposition of geometric framing elements and ethereal clouds creates a jarring contrast of shape, texture and content.
