On view in Gallery 304With admiration for Dada readymades of the World War I period, transforming everyday objects as works of sculpture, virtually every 1930's surrealist made weird objects. Yet few classic surrealist sculptures survived the tumults of World War II, obliging artists to issue replica editions of the lost originals in the 1960s. Thus, the discovery of ten period Dali telephones in estate storage, one of which was acquired by the Institute, provides a rare opportunity to collect an unforgettable example of this important art form by the movement's most antic and imaginative artist.</div>" length="2175" type="image/jpeg" />
