2013 marks the 25th anniversary of the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. This Art Collector Set is one from a series of “Garden Anniversary Sets” created to celebrate the Garden from a variety of perspectives.
ABOUT THE SET'S CREATOR: Todd Balthazor is a satirical, often anthropomorphic illustrator, fine artist, muralist and children’s art instructor from St.Paul, MN, with a BFA in illustration from the College of Visual Arts (CVA). Balthazor also works as a guard at the Walker Art Center and draws on those experiences to create his biweekly comic strip for mnartists.org, It Is What It Is!.
ABOUT THE SET: For this Art Collector Set, Balthazor uses It Is What It Is! as a viewfinder for looking at the Garden’s big spoon and cherry (Spoonbridge and Cherry by Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen). Anyone lingering around this iconic "photo op" of a sculpture is bound to see visitors posing and taking pictures. This Set offers a virtual tour of people interacting with and enjoying the big spoon and cherry.
