This Arts Connected Set is meant to be used by teachers and students who will be visiting the Graphic Design: Now In Production" exhibit at the Walker Art Center. It can be used to prep younger visitors for the tour theme, "Graphic Design: Tyopgraphy and Logos".
The tour is designed for grades K-3 and follows the Minnesota State Academic Standards for the Arts. It will help students learn how to analyze, interpret and use critical thinking when observing examples of graphic design. Students will study different styles of typography and how language and visual arts work together to create graphic design. (Standards 6.4.1.2.1 and 6.1.3.2.2).
This Arts Connected Set contains background on important ideas represented in the Graphic Design exhibit. It also includes a few sneak previews of some of the things students might see during their visit to the Walker.
You can start your 'tour prep' on the next slide. Ideas for post-tour activities appear on the final slide. Please note there are two YouTube links in the slide set; if your school blocks access, students could watch them at home (or you could bypass or delete those slides.)
