Essential Question: Can visual analyzation and descriptive writing bring the art viewer to better understanding of the art image?
By analyzing the "Portraits" details students will create a brief paragraph identifying who the individual portrait represents. Students will identify clues they find in the composition and use those to develop a profile. Students may use Composition Elements/Principles to help in the identification
Elements of Design: Space, Line, Shape, Form, Value, Color, Texture.
Principles of Design: Balance, Repetition, Rhythm, Contrast, Movement, Emphasis, Unity.
This exercise will assist students in the art of "seeing".
This exercise will assist students in their observational writing skills, focusing on details and descriptive words.
Students may write their observations in their notebooks.
