Men of distinction wore decorated shirts that honored their achievements within their community, and were worn for special events. Many items were decorated as show pieces, not as a utilitarian objects. The rifle scabbard would have been tied to the side of a horse or held in the arms as shown here. The leggings were constructed of wool with minimal beaded patterning. The U shaped design located on the upper portion of the beaded area probably references the buffalo.
