This skirt was woven by a master weaver for his fiancé who wore it on their wedding day. It remained in the family as a valued heirloom until it came to the museum.It is worn in a pleated or gathered form and secured with a belt similar to example #4 in the case. The belt was woven in Totonicapán for use in Quetzaltenango the second largest town in Guatemala.The head band pictured here was also woven in Totonicapán for use in Quetzaltenango and is similar to example 14 in the case.
