I was born in 1958 and this bank came out in 1959.  I don't know how old I was when I got it, but I've had it as long as I can remember, definitely since before age 5. (It was apparently a gift for opening a kids account at Peoples State Bank in Memphis.) It initially sparked my interest in astronomy which has remained an interest all of my life.

 I have degrees in electrical engineering and physics and currently teach astronomy in the Physics Dept. at University of Memphis.  I have also done presentations in astronomy  for very young kids and when I do I take my bank to show.  I also show it to my college students so that they know how much something like this can spark the imagination of their kids.  

I know another astronomy teacher who was similarly inspired by a large map of the solar system she got when she was 7.

My bank is not nearly as new looking as the one in this photo, and it is missing Mars, but I love it and the way it inspired me when I was young.
