You are PART of the ART
The Traditional Art Tripod
Artist
Artwork Viewer
It used to be that the viewer of the art was passive.
Contemporary art blurs the lines between Artist, Artwork, and Viewer.
Now, you can be PART of the ART.
This Collectors Set has artworks that invite us to participate, play and question the boundaries of ART.

Arikidea
The Traditional Art Tripod
Artist
Artwork Viewer
The raft hanging under the tripod invites the viewer in to experience the motion of the art piece. Not only does the raft move, but the horizontal beams above the raft sway in response. When it was installed, the raft was not anchored to the ground, allowing the viewer/player to really push Arikidea to swing higher and higher. An exhilarating experience! Then the Walker chained the raft to the ground, limiting the range of motion and changing the artwork.
Is this what the artist wanted?

Standing Glass Fish
Frank Gehry's Fish in the conservatory at the sculpture garden is an artwork which submerges you in a complete environment. Air temperature, fauna, and light in Minnesota are so important - How does Standing Glass Fish make you feel?

6th Light / Sky Pesher
A ray of light - an open panel of sky. What does this mean to you? What does it feel like to be INSIDE the art?

Shalekhet - Fallen Leaves
The Jewish museum in Berlin has an installation called Shalekhet. The viewer is asked to walk over small round pieces of metal, scattered all over the floor, several inches deep. Each metal circle is unique, and each has a face. The effect has a haunting sound - clinking metal footsteps, an echoey chamber, a thousand silent screams.

Art Shanty Project
Inspired by traditional ice fishing houses, the Art Shanty Project on Medicine Lake celebrates winter in Minnesota, as artists and participants mix with winter sport and endurance. The artist and the viewer must consider the weather before setting their boots or art on the lake.

Art Shanty Project
The viewers leave their mark on the project. What are those little pieces of paper?
The next slide is a multi-dimentional work which challenges the viewer to think outside the box. Is it music, art, science or play?
