Discussion Questions/Activities

Can a motorcycle be art? What has been done to transform this motorcycle?

Is graffiti art? As a class, hold a debate with one side arguing that "graffiti is art" and giving reasons and arguments to support their statement. The other side should give arguments to support the statement that "graffiti is not art". Have some students be a panel to decide which side made the best arguments for their point of view.

Use your name, nickname or initials to design a "tag". Your tag may also incorporate you own style of doodling. Incorporate your tag design into an artwork.

Americans have a tendency to personalize their belongings. This ranges from notebook covers covered with doodling, personalized license plates on automobiles, to custom paint jobs on cars, vans or even houses. Look for examples of personalization. Plan how you might personalize your own mode of transportation or a favorite object.
