TEACHER
LESSONS
ArtsNetMinnesota
is designed to be a forum for multiple perspectives. Curriculum
content was constructed from the museum professionals' perspective
(art, artists, discussion, activities), the students' perspective
(student link) and from the teachers' perspective (teacher lessons).
Please read the following guidelines to help us expedite your lesson
submissions.
How to get started?
The primary criterion is a connection to one of the more than 50
posted art works on ArtsNetMinnesota. The connection might be by
style. Perhaps you have an environmental/sculpture lesson you would
like to include on the "Nash"
page. Maybe you've developed a botany/biology lesson you would like
to attach to the O'Keeffe
page. You may want to use a suggested classroom activity as a launch
point. Be creative! Dig out all those great pictures of past student
work. This is a great way for you to help your students publish
on the World Wide Web, build their portfolios, and for you to receive
recognition for the work that you do!
Please use the
following format:
Format for
Lesson Submission
- Credit (how
you wish your name to appear, the full name of your school and
its location, and the grade(s)/subject(s) you teach).
- Title of
Lesson
- Grade
- Objectives
of Lesson (What will the students know?)
- Materials
Needed (What supplies do the students need?)
- Vocabulary
(What will the new words be?)
- Preparation
(What do you need for presentation?)
- Procedure
(What will you do? What will the students do?)
- Clean Up
(Who/How)
- Assessment
(How will you measure or know if the students met your objectives?)
Pictures
of Student Work/Images
We encourage you to submit student work as prints, slides, or already
digitized on disk. Identify software used, platform, etc. Use only
first names of students. Write captions for images!
Personal
Work
You may include your own work if it fits into the context of the
lesson.
Other Works
of Art
Your lesson may refer and be linked to any artwork that appears
on ArtsNetMinnesota. Works outside the ArtsNetMinnesota site may
have copyright restrictions.
Text Format
Lesson text should be on disk labeled with the platform (IBM or
Mac) , the software (Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, etc.) and the
name of the lesson file. Also include HARD COPY (print out) of the
text. If there are reading or research assignments, list appropriate
resources that are available in your school's library.
Edits and
Timeline
Please note that all published work is edited. We may also edit
your lesson for accuracy and clarity. This is standard museum policy
so do not feel insulted! We cannot guarantee a specific timeline
for posting or that every lesson submitted will meet the criteria
set above. Museum staff will be happy to work with you to resolve
any questions. This is a wonderful resume building opportunity for
both you and your students!
New News
You can also participate in another way. The New News page is an
opportunity for you to post a short paragraph and photos of a past,
present, or future event or student work.
To Submit
or Ask a Question
Just send the pictures (print/slide, or digitized) and disk to:
Dr. Barbara Bridges, 3139 Blackheath Drive, St. Cloud, MN 56301.
