What is surprising about the shape of this building?

Most buildings built in the last 60 years are shaped from squares or rectangles or basic geometric shapes arranged in rows. Frank Gehry had different ideas about the shape of buildings, which is why many people find his architecture unusual. For the Weisman he used lots of angles and curves.

There are so many shapes on the Weisman, that the architects and builders gave them nicknames such as the "upper belly," the "lower belly," the "nose," and even the "potato chip"! Can you guess which shapes go with these nicknames? Click here

Frank Gehry said, "Every building is by its very nature a sculpture. You can't help it. Sculpture is a three-dimensional object and so is a building."
