Who decided how this building should look? The architect for the Weisman Art Museum is Frank Gehry. He planned how the building looks, what materials were used and how the rooms and spaces of the building are arranged. But architects rarely work alone. First, a committee of people including the museum director, planners from the University of Minnesota, and others who were interested in the new art museum met to make plans. One of their main goals was to build a museum that people would notice and that would be a special place for art. They chose Frank Gehry because he had a reputation for designing unusual buildings and an interest in art. He also listened to everyone's ideas about the building.
