This program
was written for students in grades 5 through 8 who want to learn
about the design process by studying real buildings and objects
in the collections of four Twin Cities museums.
We usually think
of the things in art museums as being made by people we call artists.
But many of the things in art museums were made by people we could
call either artists or designers - or both.

The works of
art in Spaces and Places include sculpture and architecture. You
can see and learn about a grand reception hall in China; bronze
bears and deer that were once part of the gates to a playground;
a new museum for the University of Minnesota, and a mobile lab for
neighborhood art classes - plus 12 other things!
