How did the
artist get this idea?
Harriet Bart came
up with the idea for Harvest while working on another project in
Iowa. Driving back and forth between Minnesota and Iowa, she passed cornfields
and farms in spring, summer, winter, and fall. Bart liked the beauty of
the rural landscape and farm architecture, including barns, silos, and
corncribs. She began to research farm architecture and decided to build
a corncrib as part of her sculpture.
