Frank Lloyd Wright Hallway

The strong horizontal lines of the house fit perfectly into the flat landscape of the Midwest.

What did Wright think American Architecture should be?

Wright thought houses should be part of their landscape. This quality is something we see throughout Wright's work. His houses have strong horizontal lines that remind us of the flat landscape of the Midwest.

Wright designed nearly 300 windows for the Little house. Notice the strong horizontal line this creates. The windows also gave the Littles the advantage of seeing the lake view and the natural environment. It was a way to connect the house and the people who lived there to their surroundings.

Wright didn't stop with the windows. Click here to find out what else Wright designed.
