Frank Lloyd Wright Hallway

Francis and Mary Little commissioned Frank Lloyd Wright to build two homes for them, one in Illinois and one in Minnesota. The Littles are shown here on the front steps of their Minnesota Frank Lloyd Wright house, c. 1912.

Who commissioned this house?

The owners of the house were Francis and Mary Little. Mr. Little was a lawyer and businessman. They were a wealthy couple who enjoyed comfortable surroundings.

The Littles lived in Illinois before they moved to Minnesota. The architect of their house in Illinois was their friend Frank Lloyd Wright. The Littles were very happy with that house, so they wanted Wright to design and build their summer home in Minnesota.
