Cycle of Life - Armillary Sphere

Paul Manship made several versions of Cycle of Life - Armillary Sphere. One version, made in 1920, was a garden sculpture. Manship knew designing sculpture for outdoor gardens is different from designing sculpture for indoors. Outdoors, the scene and light around the sculpture is always changing. Plants grow and bloom and change with the seasons. Manship imagined these changes in order to design sculpture for both indoors and outdoors. Click here to see more sculpture outdoors.
