REMEMBERING LIKE JUDY: STUDYING THE WORK OF JUDY ONOFRIO USING OUR OWN MEMORYWARE |

| Teacher Notes: The Remembering Like Judy Project infused my entire Crafts 8 curriculum. I have my eighth grade art electives everyday for one entire semester. I had one section of Art 8 and two sections of Crafts 8. My biggest challenge was to find enough materials to use for the mosaic elements. Garage sales, estate sales, dollar stores and parent donations were instrumental in doing this curriculum. I found that my students responded to every unit presented with great enthusiasm and curiosity. I have a high number of ELL/ESL students in my classes and found that the computer and planning sheets were difficult for them but they excelled when given the hands-on production part of the lessons. To aid them in the computer work and planning parts of the curriculum I buddied them up with another student. We are completing the CMS Welcome Mosaic Mural in the 2002-2003 school year. We completed all of the background mosaic work for the 4 x 8 foot mural but we need to complete the welcome signs, grout it and have it installed in the front of our school. The welcome words represent the 31 different languages present in our school. |
