Face Casting Instructions

A. Steps for completing the first task:

CASTING INSTRUCTIONS - STEP BY STEP

Materials to prepare:

  • 15–20 plastercraft strips (8-10 inches) & 1 large square

  • vaseline

  • garbage bag to cover clothing

  • hair tie for long hair

  • eye patches torn from paper towels

  • handi-wrap to cover hair (about 30–36 inches)

  • lukewarm water in bucket (about 3 inches)

B. Steps to complete casting:

  1. Cut arm& head holes in garbage bag and put over clothing

  2. Tie back hair and wrap long handi-wrap strip around hair, tie the plastic strip at the back base of the neck.

  3. Apply vaseline onto exposed facial skin. Be sure to apply onto eye brows and around nostrils.

  4. Apply damp eye patches to eyes -- vaseline will help to hold them.

  5. Dip plaster strips into water and begin to apply them horizontally high on the forehead.

  6. Overlap strips and smooth out the plaster in each.

  7. Apply only to the tip of the nose, then apply another under the nostrils and down to the chin.

  8. Apply the large square from the forehead to the nose tip.

  9. Apply vertical strips from the temple to the chin.

  10. Apply one more layer over all.

  11. Allow 5–7 minutes for the plaster to set up. The plaster warms as it sets and feels good.

  12. Plaster will begin to loosen from the face as it sets.

  13. Loosen around the edges of mask and remove.

  14. At all times make the person comfortable and give them the confidence that you will do a GREAT JOB!
