My Country Julia H. My name is Julia H., I am 12 years old and attend The Blake School. I have studied art at The Blake School for three years. I chose this layout for my sculpture because the "USA" is the biggest, so it is the focus of attention. I wanted this because the United States of America is the topic of my sculpture. Everything on my sculpture stands for something. The pennies represent a solid economy, the multicolored tiles represents the diversity of America's people. The flags and red, white and blue represents patriotism shown by the people of America. One of the things I love about art is how a person can tell a story, reflect themselves, share a dream and more in just one piece of artwork. The hardest thing about making art is finding a topic. I thought of something that was important to me. I think the United States was a good topic, because of the events of September 11. Patriotism is at its strongest. I love making art. It is something that I would like to continue for the rest of my life. |
