Kathryn Gainey is the Assistant Professor of Art Education at St. Cloud State University. Her past experience includes 27 years of K-12 teaching (both as an art specialist and a classroom generalist). Her BS degrees are in Art and Elementary Education, her MS is in Curriculum and Instruction Art Education, and her Doctorate is in Educational Policy.
Kathryn has written many grants for "Artists in Residence" programs and has served as Vice-Chair of the Central Minnesota Arts Board. She has volunteered with the Minnesota State Arts Board, the Minnesota Best Practice Network of Arts Educators, and is the advisor for the Future Art Educators at SCSU.
It was a very valuable learning experience to be a part of the Judy Onofrio project. The creative process came to life as students produced their assemblages; and, at the same time, learned about the art of this talented Minnesota artist.
