| Objectives: | Students will be able to create a ceramic place setting out of clay which can be used as dinnerware.
Students will be able to demonstrate coil and slab construction techniques. Students will be able to identify what makes Outsider art outsider art. | Procedures: | Day 1-2: Lecture and class discussion on Outsider Art accompanied by an online interactive worksheet.
Day 3: Lecture and class discussion on ceramics. (worksheet and handout) Day 4: Demonstration on ceramic construction methods. Day 5-10: Work on ceramic projects Day 11: Glaze Demonstratoin Day 11-12: Glaze ceramics Day 12: Quiz Assignment: Students will create a place setting consisting of a cup, bowl, and plate designed for an outsider artist of their choice. They are to make a place setting they think that artist would like. |
