Imagine that the birch-bark figure in this painting could talk. What would it be saying?

Think about an event in history that has had an effect on life today. Without using words or direct references to the event, create an allegorical statement with words or images to express your feelings about that event.

How would you define "inner sight?" (One definition may be: looking within your self to explore your feelings, dreams or memories.) Look for examples of inner sight in artworks, literature or music. Select one example to share in class.

Vocabulary Terms

allegory--An image, mythical figure, or story that refers to something else entirely--usually large concepts such as good and evil or comments on the human condition.
