During this time the third graders wrote their stories and created the three symbols, which would become pictographs and petroglyphs. We were starting to have to hurry a bit because I was getting worried that we wouldn't be able to finish by the end of the year! Carol's "Symbol Creation" sheet was a huge help to show the kids how a symbol can be developed! I do feel they could have used more time to create the symbols. It was difficult for some to get away from detailed, realistic drawings!
