| March 25
Today went very well. Thank you for your part (and your husband's). An overview of the day... The children came in at 8:30 a.m. Slabs of clay were already prepared 12"x15" and on tables (newspaper). Assorted tools were available on each table as well as black majolica glaze and brushes. The children were introduced to Dr. Bridges and her husband. She spoke to them of her interest in their perspective as it related to Ernest Whiteman's work. She offered the hope to include their work on the web site (ArtsNetMN). They were very excited about this possibility. Children took the stories written and symbols worked out on the Symbol Creation sheet and used them to create petroglyph and pictoglyphs in the red clay. It took all hour (50 minutes) for kids to complete their work. Some came for an additional 15 minutes at lunchtime. All were glazed with a clear coat and will be fired next week. |
