ART/MEDIA ANALYSIS ACTIVITY
Make a collage about identity
using media images, sounds, or videotape. Is it positive or negative
for the media to influence our identity? Give examples.
LANGUAGE ARTS/ART/DRAMA ACTIVITY
Create a metaphor--an idea or
image that stands for something else--for your identity. It could
be a personal object or "totem,"
a poem, a dance, a performance, or a visual form such as a drawing,
assemblage, or mask.
ART ACTIVITY
Make a self-portrait with identity clues or symbols
that represent things that make you unique.
ART ACTIVITY
Use large rolls of paper to trace the outline of your body. Fill
in the outline using collage materials from magazines, construction-paper
cut-outs, or drawings that show your identity. Half of the images
should show your outer, or physical, self and half should show your
inner self, or personality.
ART ACTIVITY
List 10 words that describe you. Design the typeface or draw a picture
of each word to express its meaning. Make a book of the words.
LANGUAGE ARTS/HISTORY ACTIVITY
Write a story about a member of your family who has an interesting
identity.
